pilot starter courseWhat will I be doing on my first lessons?

Each lesson is proceeded with a full lesson briefing by your instructor. The first briefing is usually slightly longer as there is more to cover. Your first lesson will be all about the basic controls of the helicopter, called “Effects Of Controls”, this lesson shows you what each control does and the basics behind maneuvering the helicopter. The second lesson entitled “Power, Attitude and Speed Changes” will teach you how to vary airspeed, change altitude and turn the aircraft.

When can I fly my lessons?

You may fly your lessons at a time to suit you. We are open 7 days and can fly from 8am to 3:30pm so simply call us to book your lesson and we will endeavor to get you flying at a time to suit you.

What do I need to start?

For your first few lessons all you need is yourself! We will take you through the forms and processes required but these aren’t required immediately so you are free to start straight away with no prior experience or knowledge.

What Helicopter Will I be flying?

You will either be in a Robinson R22 or a H269 aircraft. The Robinson R22 is a two-bladed, single-engine light utility helicopter manufactured by Robinson Helicopters. The two-seat R22 was designed in 1973 by Frank Robinson and has been in production since 1979. The Sikorsky S-300 (formerly Hughes 300 and Schweizer 300) family of light utility helicopters was originally produced by Hughes Helicopters, as a development of the Hughes 269. Later manufactured by Schweizer Aircraft, the basic design has been in production for almost 50 years. The single, three-bladed main rotor and piston-powered S-300 is mostly used as a cost-effective platform for training and agriculture.

Are the instructors experienced?

Yes, Very! Our instructors have over 35,000 hours collectively of flying time under their belts and are very experienced professional friendly pilots.

Will I actually get control of the aircraft?

Absolutely! You will get control of the aircraft during your lessons and your skills will be developed over the course of your instruction.
