The Night VFR (NVFR) Rating, as the name implies, allows the holder to fly an aircraft by night in Visual Meteorological Conditions (VMC). This rating, is available on a Private, Commercial or Airline Transport Pilot Licence and authorises the holder to fly after last light.
The Night VFR rating will let you fly at night providing the weather is acceptable. You will still be flying under visual conditions so you must be able to fly by reference to the ground however this rating is invaluable. If you are running late and will miss last light you will be able to come in after dark or maybe you want to get an early start to that trip and get going before sunrise.
The training program involves a minimum of 10 hours in the Robinson R44. On reaching a safe competent standard you will be required to complete a flight test for the issue of the Night VFR Rating.
